Industriekameras
Industriekameras (Kameras für die industrielle Bildverarbeitung) bestehen aus zwei grundlegenden Bausteinen: dem Bildsensor und der digitalen Schnittstelle. Der Bildsensor ist eine Matrix aus hunderttausenden lichtempfindlichen Zellen - den Pixeln. Das einzelne Pixel wandelt Helligkeit in Ausgangsspannung. Die digitale Schnittstelle wandelt die Ausgangsspannungen der Pixel in digitale Grauwerte, setzt sämtliche Grauwerte zu einem Bild zusammen und überträgt dieses Bild an einen Rechner. Diese Übertragung geschieht üblicherweise über eine USB 2.0-, FireWire- oder GigE-Schnittstelle. Eine typische einfache Industriekamera bietet eine Auflösung von 640x480 Pixeln und eine Bildwiederholrate von 30 Bildern/s.
Der Begriff "Industriekameras" ist ein wenig irreführend, da diese Kamera nicht nur in der industriellen Bildverarbeitung, sondern ebenso in der Medizin, Wissenschaft und Sicherheitstechnik Anwendung finden. Die folgenden Abschnitte skizzieren die typischen Eigenschaften von Industriekameras.
Bildsensoren
Traditionell nutzen Industriekameras CCD-Bildsensoren. Sie bieten eine hohe Empfindlichkeit und gleichzeitig einen niedrigen Rauschpegel. Zusätzlich sind CCD-Sensoren für Industriekameras durch drei weitere wichtige Eigenschaften gekennzeichnet:
- Sie haben einen globalen Shutter.
- Sie sind als Monochrom- und Farb-Version verfügbar.
- Sie sind idealerweise für viele Jahre verfügbar.
Mittlerweile nutzen mehr und mehr Industriekameras CMOS-Bildsensoren. Ihr niedriger Preis unterstützt die Tendenz zu immer preisgünstigeren Anwendungen der industriellen Bildverarbeitung. Allerdings schränkt der Rolling Shutter der meisten CMOS-Sensoren die möglichen Anwendungen ein. The Imaging Source bietet Industriekameras mit CCD- und CMOS-Bildsensoren.
Keine Bildverarbeitung
Digitale Sensoren wandeln physikalische und chemische Eigenschaften (Temperatur, Säuregrad, etc.) in digitale Signale. Sie analysieren, verarbeiten oder bewerten diese Eigenschaften NICHT - sie wandeln sie lediglich so präzise wie möglich. Industriekameras sind Sensoren, die Helligkeiten in ein digitales Signal wandeln. Das Signal wird "Bild" genannt. Diese Bilder müssen nicht gut aussehen. Für Anwendungen der industriellen Bildverarbeitung zählt lediglich die präzise Wandlung der aufgenommenen Helligkeiten. Daher "verschönern" Industriekameras die Bilder nicht. Es ist ebenfalls nicht ratsam, für die industrielle Bildverarbeitung benutzte Bilder zu komprimieren. Sogar die Farb-Versionen der The Imaging Source Industriekameras liefern Bilder ohne jegliche Nachbearbeitung (RAW- oder Bayer-Kameras).
Manuelle Einstellungen
Der vorhergehende Abschnitt hat bereits hervorgehoben, dass es ich bei Industriekameras um Sensoren handelt. Die Nutzer von Sensoren müssen deren Verhalten vollständig bestimmen können. Daher müssen sämtliche Parameter einer Industriekamera (Belichtungszeit, Verstärkung, etc.) durch den Nutzer kontrollierbar sein. The Imaging Source Industriekameras erlauben daher dem Nutzer eine Einstellung sämtlicher Parameter mit Hilfe der mitgelieferten Software.
Objektive
Die industrielle Bildverarbeitung deckt eine enorme Bandbreite von Anwendungen ab. Daher sind die meisten Industriekameras nicht mit einem Objektiv, sondern mit einem Objektivanschluss ausgestattet. Im Bereich der industriellen Bildverarbeitung gibt es zwei Standards: C- und CS-Mount. Die von The Imaging Source hergestellten Industriekameras unterstützen beide Standards. Der Markt bietet nicht nur normale C- und CS-Mount Objektive, sondern auch Mikroskope, Teleskope, Endoskope und andere optische Instrumente, die mit einem auf diesen Standards basierenden Objektivanschluss ausgestattet sind.
Digitale I/Os
Industrielle Bildverarbeitung bedeutet nicht nur die Akquisition von Bildern, sondern auch die Kommunikation mit Maschinen. Zu diesem Zweck bieten Industriekameras digitale I/Os. Der meistgenutzte I/O ist der Trigger-Eingang. Im Trigger-Modus verhalten sich Industriekameras wie Fotoapparate: Ein externes Ereignis löst die Aufnahme eines einzelnen Bildes aus. Ein typisches Beispiel aus der industriellen Bildverarbeitung ist ein Fliessband mit einer Lichtschranke und einer direkt dahinter angebrachten Industriekamera. Durchquert ein Gegenstand die Lichtschranke, erzeugt es einen Impuls, der wiederum die Aufnahme des Gegenstandes auslöst. Sämtliche The Imaging Source Industriekameras sind optional mit einem Trigger-Eingang verfügbar.
Programmierschnittstelle
Industriekameras sind digitale Sensoren. Ihre Signale, die Bilder, müssen durch einen Rechner analysiert werden. Vor dieser Analyse bedarf es der Einstellung der Kameraparameter und der Akquisition der Bilder. Üblicherweise erfordern Anwendungen der industriellen Bildverarbeitung die Integration sämtlicher drei Teile, also Kamerasteuerung, Bildakquisition und Bildanalyse in ein und dasselbe Programm. Die Hersteller von Industriekameras bieten Programmierschnittstellen für die Integration der Kamerasteuerung und Bildakquisition. Häufig sind diese Schnittstellen firmenspezifisch. Im Gegensatz dazu sind sämtliche The Imaging Source Industriekameras zu DirectX / DirectShow kompatibel - dem Microsoft Windows-Standard für die Kamerasteuerung und Bildakquisition.
Langzeitverfügbarkeit
Die kommerziellen Wurzeln der industriellen Bildverarbeitung liegen in der Investitionsgüterindustrie. Die in diesem Zusammenhang genutzten Komponenten müssen nicht unbedingt der neuesten Technologie folgen, sondern im Gegenteil dazu über viele Jahre verfügbar sein. Daher basieren The Imaging Source Industriekameras auf programmierbaren Bauteilen und Standardschnittstellen. Das Verhalten von The Imaging Source Industriekameras bleibt also erhalten, auch wenn einige elektronische Komponenten nicht mehr verfügbar sein sollten.
