Source Code - Contrast Enhancement

The Imaging Source Newsletter
10 October 2006

This newsletter illustrates several ways in which the contrast of a *live* image data stream can be enhanced.

Please take a look at the following programming examples and download their source code:

http://www.theimagingsource.com/en/products/software/windows_sdks/icimagingcontrol/library/image-processing/contrast-enhancement-1/

http://www.theimagingsource.com/en/products/software/windows_sdks/icimagingcontrol/library/image-processing/contrast-enhancement-2/

http://www.theimagingsource.com/en/products/software/windows_sdks/icimagingcontrol/library/image-processing/contrast-enhancement-3/

All examples use our SDK "IC Imaging Control". It simplifies and unifies image acquisition and the control of cameras, converters and frame grabbers under Windows:

http://www.theimagingsource.com/en/products/software/windows_sdks/icimagingcontrol/overview/
New type of color camera

The Imaging Source Newsletter
19 April 2005

Usually the image data of 1CCD color cameras is interpolated. More and more users, however, prefer the use of 1CCD cameras that output the original color information. Such cameras are called "Bayer cameras" or "CR cameras" (CR = Color Raw). The advantages are:

o The camera transfers only 8 bit (instead of 24 bit) per pixel.
o The frame rate doubles.
o The image data is not distorted by interpolation.

Here you will find detailed information on Bayer cameras:

http://www.theimagingsource.com/en/resources/glossary/entry/bayercamera.htm

Using this original color information is not particularly difficult, but requires some getting used to. To assist you in learning about Bayer cameras and how they work, we have created a little application.

This application is free of charge and can be downloaded at:
