Free Imaging Development Environment
In our last newsletter, we concentrated on FireWire cameras. We also discussed the need to completely separate application software and hardware (the camera in our case) using the operating system. For image processing purposes, Windows provides DirectX/DirectShow for this task.
Many readers of these newsletters have asked for development kits for machine vision applications which make use of DirectX. Such a tool is the new 'MontiVision Development Kit'. It not only uses DirectX to communicate with FireWire cameras, but also to connect single imaging algorithms. For this purpose the development kit uses a graphical user interface.
