New Type Of Color Camera (Bayer)

Usually the image data of 1CCD color cameras is interpolated. More and more users, however, prefer the use of 1CCD cameras that output the original color information. Such cameras are called "Bayer cameras" or "CR cameras" (CR = Color Raw). The advantages are:

  • The camera transfers only 8 bit (instead of 24 bit) per pixel.
  • The frame rate doubles.
  • The image data is not distorted by interpolation.

Using this original color information is not particularly difficult, but requires some getting used to. To assist you in learning about Bayer cameras and how they work, we have created a little application.
