Software training

Custom-made training programs

As a digital camera and software manufacturer, and official distributor for the HALCON and MERLIC image processing libraries, and optics, we are able to offer highly affordable components for any machine vision application, directly to the customer - without the middle man. Our decades of experience in machine vision mean that we can provide you with highly customized consulting and solutions for your application.

Rather than traditional training sessions, The Imaging Source offers customized seminars that are tailored to your particular inspection task. HALCON and MERLIC are powerful imaging programs offering an array of image processing functions, but typically in machine vision, one is looking to complete a very specific inspection task. In our training seminars, we will examine your application and the inspection task(s) involved and develop a plan that meets your application's specific needs and enables you to use HALCON or MERLIC in the most efficient way possible. Rather than being overloaded with general information about HALCON and MERLIC, you leave the seminar equipped with the knowledge you need to complete your specific inspection task.

The following is an example training program.
All training programs are custom-made to your specific requirements.

Day 1: Introduction to HALCON

  • Introduction to HDevelop with practical examples - learn how to load images from the hard disk, or capture them live from the connected camera.
  • Introduction to specific HALCON methodologies.
  • Immersion in the field of segmentation.
  • Ways in which source code in various programming languages can be exported from HDevelop.
  • Introduction to HDevEngine.
  • Overview of the various tools which HALCON offers.

Day 2: Custom-made to your requirements

  • Introduction to the various matching algorithms with practical examples (live).
  • Camera calibration with live video stream (e.g. for one camera or stereo systems).
  • Introduction to 3D image processing (technologies, techniques, stereo, RPP, shape from shading, triangulation etc.)
  • Matching in 3D. State-of-the-art, automated bin-picking example in HDevelop.
  • Introduction to various tools, using examples and live video captures from your application. For example, measurement, tracking, particle counting, positioning, completeness checking, blob, classification, barcode, OCR, color detection, texture detection, stitching and mosaicking of images, deskew and uncoil.
  • Visualization with HALCON.
  • Introduction to camera, optical, processing, I/O or illumination techniques.

Course fee (per person)

The course fee is €500.00 + VAT (includes all drinks, lunch and certificate of participation).

  • Export source code to various programing languages.
  • Introduction to HDevEngine.
  • Overview of the tools HALCON offers.
  • Demonstration on how to calibrate a camera using a live video stream (for example, a one or stereo camera system).
  • Introduction to 3D image processing (technologies, stereo, RPP, shape from shading, triangulation).
  • Demonstration of a 3D system, based on RPP laser and a stereo camera system. Introduction of the handling with HALCON.
  • Matching in 3D, for example, "grab something from the box" in HDevelop.
