TIS Launches Visus: GigE Industrial Cameras - Designed to See What Matters
Published on July 22, 2025 by TIS Marketing.
The Imaging Source, international manufacturer of machine vision cameras and software for industrial imaging, announces the release of its new Visus series, a next-generation line of GigE industrial cameras designed to offer modern and future proof architecture, improved performance, and greater efficiency with a cost-optimized design. As a new addition to The Imaging Source's GigE portfolio, Visus is designed to see what matters, especially when what matters is speed, precision, and value.
The new models feature a 29 × 29 × 44 mm housing, making them 13 mm shorter than The Imaging Source's existing GigE housed cameras, while maintaining rugged industrial construction. Visus cameras offer enhanced connectivity with 1× trigger/GPIn and 2× GPIOs, full GigE Vision compliance, and adherence to the GenICam SFNC standard for maximum interoperability. The architecture includes unified FPGA, RAM, and Flash in a single building block for streamlined processing and control.
Initial variants will be available with high-performance sensors including the Sony IMX900 (3.2 MP), onsemi AR0521 (5 MP) and onsemi AR2020 (20 MP). Additional models featuring the Sony IMX568 (5.1 MP) and Sony IMX676 (12.6 MP) are scheduled for release in late Q3 2025.
The Visus series also introduces advanced firmware features such as color presets (D65, D50, linear) for simplified white balance control, along with lower power consumption in comparison with The Imaging Source's current GigE industrial camera models and improved heat dissipation.
"Visus offers OEMs and integrators a modern and future-proof GigE camera platform that balances performance, efficiency, and cost. They're built for easy integration and efficiency, offering our customers a more cost-effective path to high-performance industrial imaging," said Momchil Binev, Senior Product Manager at The Imaging Source.
Product Naming Update
With the introduction of our new camera series, Visus, The Imaging Source is transitioning to trademarked product names to strengthen product branding and improve market recognition. This change will apply to new product lines only; all existing camera models (e.g., 33G Series) will continue to be identified by product or platform codes.
