Industrial Cameras for Astronomy

Industrial cameras provide the speed, sensitivity and image quality needed for a wide range of astrophotography applications. From detailed solar, lunar and planetary imaging to all-sky observation, The Imaging Source cameras capture high-quality image data for observing fast-moving or transient events. High frame rates are particularly valuable for solar system imaging and lucky imaging techniques, where large numbers of frames can be captured and the sharpest selected for processing.

The Imaging Source offers a broad portfolio of CMOS cameras with a range of resolutions, frame rates and sensor technologies to meet different imaging requirements. Features such as Region of Interest (ROI) allow smaller areas of the sensor to be read out at higher frame rates, while global shutter sensors are well suited to demanding applications such as ISS transit imaging. With USB and GigE interfaces, compact form factors and flexible software integration, The Imaging Source cameras can be used for planetary, lunar and solar imaging, all-sky observation and autoguiding.

Applications

Solar Imaging
Solar Imaging

The Imaging Source cameras capture detailed images of the Sun for observing sunspots, prominences and other solar phenomena. High frame rates, global shutter sensors and flexible ROI settings support short exposures and rapid image sequences for high-resolution solar imaging.

Planetary Imaging
Planetary Imaging

High frame rates make The Imaging Source cameras well suited to planetary imaging and lucky imaging techniques. By capturing many short-exposure frames, imagers can select and stack the sharpest images to reduce the effects of atmospheric turbulence, while Region of Interest (ROI) can increase frame rates even further.

Lunar Imaging
Lunar Imaging

The Imaging Source cameras combine high resolution and fast image acquisition for detailed imaging of the lunar surface. Short-exposure image sequences support lucky imaging and frame stacking, helping reveal fine structures such as craters, rilles, mountain ranges and other surface features despite atmospheric seeing.

All-Sky Imaging
All-Sky Imaging

Wide-field and all-sky observation benefit from sensitive CMOS sensors and fast image acquisition for capturing meteors, comets and other transient events. High frame rates and sensitive CMOS sensors enable reliable capture of fast-moving objects and changing night-sky phenomena.
