Aptiris Autofocus Cameras Enter Series Production
Published on October 12, 2026 by The Imaging Source.
The first six models in The Imaging Source's Aptiris USB 3.1 autofocus camera series are now in series production. Designed for machine vision and embedded imaging applications with changing object or working distances, Aptiris combines software-controlled one-push autofocus with a compact industrial camera platform and motorized M12 lens mount.

Expanded Sensor Portfolio with New 8.3 MP Models
At the same time, the series is expanding with two new 8.3 MP models based on the onsemi AR0822 sensor. The 1/1.8" stacked BSI CMOS sensor offers 3840 × 2160 resolution, high dynamic range, and strong low-light performance, making it well suited for applications requiring detailed image acquisition under changing illumination conditions. The new AR0822-based models are currently available as prototypes, with series production planned for October 2026.
Compact USB 3.1 Platform for Easy Integration
Across the series, Aptiris combines USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity with USB3 Vision and UVC support, simplifying integration with industrial PCs, embedded systems, and heterogeneous vision environments. Additional features include power over USB, I/O trigger, a 1.3 mm autofocus stroke, and a compact 36 × 36 × 33.8 mm form factor.
The result is a flexible autofocus platform for applications such as automation, inspection, medical and laboratory imaging, smart logistics, and compact embedded vision systems.
