Installing an S-Mount Lens on Autofocus Cameras
We assume you are using an Autofocus camera by The Imaging Source, e.g., e.g., Aptiris USB 3.1 Type-C, and a recommended M12 S-Mount lens, e.g., S-Ultra lens, with a focal length between 3.4mm and 25mm.
Start IC Capture (Windows, Linux) and open the Autofocus camera, e.g., Aptiris before installing the M12 lens.
Set the focus property e.g. to 500, which corresponds to the mid-range position.
Then screw in the lens until the image is nearly in focus. The autofocus function can then fine-tune the focus automatically.
The lens may feel slightly loose in the camera's thread. To secure it, we recommend applying a small amount of teflon tape to the lens thread.
Do not screw the lens in too far, as this can block the autofocus mechanism that moves the lens in and out.
